"Mass poisoning": near Lyon, Extinction Rebellion stages a protest in front of BASF headquarters

Banners, green paint sprays, a dozen activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement carried out an action in front of the BASF company headquarters in Écully, in the west of Lyon, on Friday, October 31.
On their X account, the activists denounce "the collective poisoning linked to the chemicals that the multinational produces" behind "the fine speeches and the promise of 'profitable' agriculture" .

They specifically point the finger at the company's pesticides, which "poison the water, the soil, and our bodies," and whose "first victims are insects." "They are at the origin of most food chains, contribute to 90% of the reproduction of flowering plants, and pollinate about one-third of the crops intended for our food. Without them, life is threatened," Extinction Rebellion continues.
The movement also asserts that "more than 25% of the population was supplied with non-compliant water in 2023," while "the situation has deteriorated considerably in 10 years," according to a report from the Ministry of Health. It adds: "The State is complicit in this widespread poisoning!"
